Australian law enforcement have ended the operation for a four-year-old who has been disappeared in the wilderness for nearly three weeks, after additional operations proved unsuccessful to find any signs of the boy.

The young boy was spotted playing near his residence on a remote rural property near Yunta, about 300km from Adelaide, on late September.

His family member left him alone for about thirty minutes before checking on him, only to realize the youngster missing, triggering one of the most extensive ground and aerial missions in local history.

Latest Situation

Law enforcement - who do not suspect criminal activity - say they will persist investigating, but that the case has become a "recovery mission".

Recently, police for a short time scaled back the operation, only to recommence it on Tuesday alongside numerous military members.

"Spokesperson authorities said authorities were scanning a more extensive area based on new evaluations from medical and rescue specialists, rather than any new information."
